Brigg Annuak Town Meeting March 21st 2005 Minutes

Brigg Town Council Information

The Parish of Brigg is served by its own Town Council, which was established during the 1974 re-organisation of Local Government.

The Town Council consists of 19 members, and elections are held in May once every four years to coincide with the District Council elections for North Lincolnshire Council. Brigg Town Councillors serve in an entirely voluntary capacity and, although mileage allowances can be claimed by members who represent the Town Council out of the Town, no other allowances are paid other than the Town Mayor’s Allowance.

The Chairman of the Town Council is also the Town Mayor, and he/she is elected by members of the Town Council at the Council Annual Meeting held each year in May. The current Town Mayor is Councillor Mike Campion. The Deputy Mayor / Town Mayor Elect is Councillor John Kitwood.

Joseph J. Magrath O.B.E. Award for Public Voluntary Service

Nominations are once again invited for the Joseph J Magrath OBE Award for Public Voluntary Service in Brigg.
They can be made either by individuals or organisations and should be submitted to the Town Council before Monday January 10, 2005.
The Silver Rose Bowl (held for one year) will be awarded to the person considered to have contributed most to the well being of the town during the year 2004, perhaps in one of the following ways:
Valuable service within a local organisation; service to the old and infirm; service to youth; service to the cultural life of the community; service with sport and leisure organisations; courageous actions; actions which have increased the standing of the town.
Nomination forms are available from The Town Clerk's Office in the Angel Suite.
The Rose Bowl will be presented to the winner at the Town Mayor's Civic Charity Banquet, to be held at the Kar Restaurant on Thursday March 3, 2005, when he or she will be the guest of the Town Council.
Last year's winner was Mavis Parratt who was honoured for her services to scouting and as Chair of the Brigg Millennium Green Trust.
